In an era marked by everyone knowing a bandwagon jumper in nearly aspect of life, it's nice to be know as a fan from the start.  From the start, what does that really mean?  Well in a nutshell, it means exactly that, you were that at the start of things.  In the beginning when things were rough, when maybe things didn't have a clear outcome, you stuck it out.  That's not something that you hear a lot about these days.  It seems as though, as more time in my life passes, I hear more stories about people jumping ship when things got rough, versus sticking it out to reach the common goal.  Helping build something from the ground up carries with it a certain sense of pride that cannot be found anywhere else.  It simply means, you had true resolve.

In the beginning, Pickin' for Preemies started as an idea.  An idea that Justin and Casey Frazell had no doubt would benefit a much needed cause.  But they were not alone.  They have had support from all areas and many people along the way.  One person who has been there from the start, is Wade Bowen.  Now while most fans recognize this wildly popular singer/songwriter from his crowd pleasing hits, clever songwriting, and his raspy voice, there's more to Wade than just the music.  A much deeper side, dedicated to charity and selfless giving.  A rare trait among people, one where you have the ability to give and give and give, without even a second thought.  When you find a person who can give it their all in every aspect of life, it's hard to not notice that.  You could almost say, seeing Wade Bowen succeed from his efforts is a Given.

Outspoken about his beliefs, and grounded in his family values, Wade Bowen truly walks the walk.  Wade's actions have always Given me pride as a fan of Texas music, and his dedication to championing causes leaves little room for criticism.  For Wade to be a part of Pickin' For Preemies really was a no brainier.  Wade Bowen is not only a supporter of the Frazell's cause, but a good family friend of their's.  Along with his dedication to supporting the fundraising efforts for the NICU at Cook Children's Hospital, Wade also hosts an annual golf tournament benefiting various charities over the years in his hometown of Waco, TX.

With the recent release of The Given, Wade has been receiving more national attention, leading to an even busier schedule, yet Wade still finds time to take part in this years Pickin' For Preemies.  So if a man can tour, host events, raise a family, and still find time for this great event, we all can too.  You the fan, truly is where the heart of this event lies.  It takes your donations, your time, and your attention to make this years event a success.  So this Labor Day, take a moment to be the one who has Given.  I'll leave you guys with a look at a brilliant performance of a song near and dear to Wade.

It's no secret that people enjoy being part of something greater, and while you may not have been a part of Pickin' for Preemies from the beginning, there's always an opportunity to begin now.  Every little bit helps, and you can help while enjoying seeing some top rate singer/songwriters doing what they love, and loving what they do.  Take some time this Labor Day and forever be known as someone who has Given.  This is Texas Red Dirt Roads.
