Some people didn't give much attention to a cause or charity until they were faced with it head on in the past, but not everybody. Whether it was misinformation about the cause, lack of knowledge of the event or charity itself, but the truth is, people just didn't know. These days, with the help of social media, the information is out there, and people have the opportunity to learn about almost anything with just a few keystrokes. This has allowed for a more educated public, and some charities that may have been overlooked in the past, to get the help and support that is so desperately needed. With all this information out there, it can be hard for you to know where to start. Really it is all about what organization speaks to you. While you can't help every organization that is in need, all it takes is, what you can give.
Pickin' for Preemies was created in 2005 after Justin and Casey Frazell's daughter, Jaycie was born prematurely. Their goal was to educate the public on the seriousness of this condition, and the need for support that NICU's do need. Just a short three years later, their son Castin. was also born prematurely. Through the dedication of the doctors at the Cook Children's NICU and the love that the Farazell's have shown, both children are happy and healthy, normal, energetic kids. With technological innovations, and the knowledge and skill of these medical professionals, stories of hope and triumph like the Frazell's are happening more frequently everyday. However, there's still a great need for such facilities today, and they need your help.
From it's humble beginnings, and six years of drive and dedication, Justin and Casey along with the selfless Texas-Red Dirt music community, have transformed an idea into one of Texas' most successful philanthropic events. Through sponsorships, auctions, tickets sales, and donations Pickin' For Preemies along with their annual golf tournament, Puttin' for Preemies, the Frazell's have helped raise over half a million dollars to donate to local charities.
This is where you, the Texas-Red Dirt fan, can help continue this rich tradition of championing such a worthy cause. By purchasing a ticket for the show, telling a friend or coworker about the event, and encouraging business' to sponsor by whatever means they can, we can all celebrate the achievements of the human spirit. The cost is minimal, but the reward is everlasting. Not only will you get to experience a concert of your favorite artists, coming together and making the magic happen on stage, your donations and ticket purchase will help make the magic happen in so many lives. It truly is astonishing how a simple gesture can have a lasting impression on a strangers life.
