What if I told you that a recipient of an Academy Of Texas Music award might be an artist you have never heard of?  For the causal listener that is most likely true, but Sammy Fox is definitely worthy of such accolades.  At the recent presentation of the Texas Music Awards, Sammy Fox and the Intervention received honors as "Live Band of the Year", an award which Sammy says "I had no expectations for, but was honored to just be nominated."

A self-taught musician who got his start in church at age 3, Sammy wears many hats in the industry today.  An accomplished percussionist who isendorsed by Shine Custom Drums, Sammy also plays guitar, piano, and bass.  Sammy regularly provides drum lessons, and self-promotes.  During our recent interview, it became apparent how important family ties are to Sammy, and it shows in his emotionally honest songwriting.

"I [Sammy] just want you to see me for who I am.  I'm the kinda guy who's gonna party."  This sentiment shows in his high energy performances.  Sammy always plays to the crowd, feeding off their energy, and keeping the excitement alive.  Whether it be his own original music, or fan favorite covers from varied genre's, Sammy Fox delivers, giving fans an escape from the daily grind, and us a peek into the life of this singer/songwriter.

We all discover unique things in the strangest places, and us here at TXRDR are pleased we found Sammy as we travel along the roads.  Continue to support local artists, and always take the time to stop and dance to the music.
